Making Our Own Bar Crawl in Melbourne
By Tuesday, the smoke in Melbourne had gotten really bad. I was having a hard time breathing and was losing my voice because it was layered so thickly in the city. Due to that, plus the fact that I was still feeling heartbroken over not having more time in Sydney, I decided to book an earlier flight back to my new favorite city on Wednesday morning - making Tuesday my last day with Kara.
To make the most of our last day together, Kara and I got up early, grabbed a coffee at Duke’s (a local we met in an Uber pool (who Kara ended up going on a date with ;)) said it was the best coffee in the city) and then went on a walk through the botanical gardens.
The gardens were like a prettier, cleaner and safer version of Central Park in New York, so that was a welcomed walk. On the other side of them, we made our way to this adorable street, Fitzroy, which was quite similar to the nicer portion of Melrose Avenue.
Then, we hit up Stomping Ground - an amazing brewery right around the corner that like all the other places in Melbourne, had a great vibe and interior. Both Kara and I ordered beer flights, which turned into us forcing each other to finish it all as neither of us would normally choose beer as a pick of poisons. While we weren’t planning to drink much, the beer kicked us off right regardless and next thing I knew, we were back in St. Kilda, going from bar to bar and making our own personal bar crawl.
However, we weren’t able to keep our momentum going and decided to grab dinner at Chin Chin, a local hotspot famous for its’ Chinese cuisine, and then head back home for another early night in.
