How To Love People, Even When They Maybe, Probably, More Than Likely Don't Deserve It
Every time Pastor @joesmith.la speaks it leaves me in awe. And last night he talked about how to love people even when it’s hard. I can’t even pretend to summarize all he said nearly as well as he did it...so just read my notes below and get ready to feel like you were punched in the chest with some truth!
- There’s nothing in the human story that says love your enemy so that’s exactly why God had to intercept our story - You wrong me, I wrong you- that’s how the world works, EXCEPT in the economy of God ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - God wants you to do what no one else does, because that’s what will set you apart and that’s what will show people how to live fully alive ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Anytime you obey God there’s always a flip side to it - there’s a benefit to it, when you love your enemies, you learn to forgive ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - When you hold bitterness you get sick- physically, emotionally and spiritually ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Bitterness is not supposed to live in our hearts, even our body understands that ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Forgiveness realigns your heart back to where it was always supposed to be - It’s not about the person, it’s about you allowing yourself to be free from the bondage of bitterness, guilt and resentment ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Bitterness ruins your life when the other person has already moved on - When we love the hard way we start to look a whole lot like God
